1953	The company’s founder, Heinrich Gültig, with the support of the Viniculture School Weinsberg, developed the so-called GÜLTIG METHOD, the sterilization of wine and champagne corks with the aid of sulfur dioxide. This technique became the worldwide standard and the prerequisite for today’s sterile bottling technology.
1969	After the founder’s death, Günter Bleckmann and his family purchased the company. Under his auspices, the company enjoyed huge growth expansion. The technological highlight was his directive to research the chlorine molecule TCA (2-4-6-trichloranisol), which had been identified as the main cause of corked taste in wine. As a result of this scientific discovery the heretofore common practice of washing corks in a chlorine solution was replaced by treatment with peroxide. This new process became the worldwide standard and the basis of further measures to reduce, i.e. remove corked taste.
1991	Upon his 70th birthday, Günter Bleckmann passed sole leadership of the company into the hands of his son, Rüdiger.The following years were marked by significant improvements in the quality of natural corks with the attendant seals of quality (Geisenheimer Seal of Quality, HAACP, Systecode, Seal of Sustainabilty and Economy).
2007	The Heinrich Gültig company expanded its product portfolio to iclude BVS-aluminum screw caps, which have been printed, foiled and stamped in-house to customer specifications ever since.
2021	With the arrival of his son, Konstantin, the third generation of the family has become active.
Today	And so, for over 70 years, GÜLTIG has stood for expert competence and reliability in the realm of bottle stopping.
